Algonquin College

Along with SuccessITS, we designed a Web-based training site for Algonquin College's students and staff that fully explained the workings of the College's VPN, with an objective of increasing the number of people taking advantage of this technology. We took a light-hearted approach to appeal to the students, using a tabbed interface with highly informative and entertaining animations.

  • Simple, intuitive interface featuring a "tabs" metaphor
  • Designed in Macromedia Flash for true multi-platform compatibility
  • Extensive animations featuring characters developed in Poser 4.0
  • Innovative dynamic feedback forms require user to supply all relevant information before sending a formatted e-mail to the Help Desk

Games

MD Management - "You Don't Know MD Pro" Game

Question: How do you best wrap up a multi-day training session when a considerable amount of material has been covered and the students are undergoing "information overload"? Answer: Divide the class into three groups and play a quiz game. Displayed with an LCD projector, this game was used to wind down the course, while giving the students an opportunity to show what they've learned. Good-natured competitiveness ensures that everyone will rediscover their focus and have a great time while doing so. Scored extremely high marks on post-course student surveys.

  • Extensive cartoon character animation featuring the professional voice-acting talent of NMB Productions
  • Music and sound effects
  • Animated host with an actual blooper reel over closing credits
